These works combine filmmaking, painting, mixed media and photography. The original pieces were created on Super8 mm movie film, projected and photographed. After working with the moving image for some time, creating short narrative and experimental films, my interest was drawn to freezing the action to allow the senses to linger and explore one film frame at a time.
The process of working with small format film evokes the mystery of scale – that small and minimal actions can produce limitless complexity and visual intrigue when made available at a human scale. It's a reminder of worlds that are invisible to us until we begin to pay attention.
