Schoolgirl Memories

Rescued photographs of a group of girls on the last day of middle school in 1998.

A handful of photographs tossed into a shoebox were left to the elements in a damp, dark garage. Nature's process of appropriating the material resources present in the photographs included a transfer (or monoprint) of one photographic image onto an adjacent photo creating a mirror image of the original.

The result over time is imagery that is scattered and incomplete like the memories of the event captured in the photograph. The monoprint is a different version of the same memory, where order is reversed and details have faded or dissipated entirely.

Diptych: digital prints on gallery wrapped canvas, 24" x 24" each.
